Fifteen Novels in Fifteen Minutes

Here ya go, Julie!

The Rules: Don’t take too long to think about it. List, in no particular order, fifteen authors (poets included) who’ve influenced you and that will always stick with you. List the first fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes.

1. Arthur C. Clarke
2. Isaac Asimov
3. Orson Scott Card
4. Stephen Jay Gould
5. Harlan Ellison
6. Stephen Hawking
7. Billy Collins
8. John Irving
9. Clifford Stoll
10. Stephen King
11. Flannery O’Conner
12. Ted Chiang
13. Pope John Paul II
14. Ravi Zacharias
15. Ray Bradbury

Those are the first 15 that came to mind… I am surprised that there’s only one female author on the list. Ursula K. Le Guin should be somewhere in there, for her Earthsea novels. And Jane Austen for Pride and Prejudice, which I practically memorized in April and May this year.

Great list … I just realized that I probably should have included Laura Ingalls Wilder on my list. Believe it or not, I practically memorized all those Little House books and still bring up points from them in conversation (it is surprising how often pioneer life gets brought up, now that I think about it). :-D
